FINALLY......
My sister and I just got back from Manila after we said goodbye to our UB & AJ at the Corinthian Gardens Clubhouse. (Well, they have a dentist appointment there and so the four of us took a taxi and after we dropped them off inside the 'village,' we continued on to the bus terminal in Cubao, in case you're wondering what on earth were Marj and Sara doing at the Corinthian Gardens...lol)
PTL for YHWH's unending grace, that He enabled us to finish our consultant checking in 25 working days minus those times when UB was pulled by his other 'toys' (i.e. drill, hammer, electric wires, etc.) I mean when he had to do other tasks
in the compound or in the house (UB, thanks for putting a wheel on that table), or instruct people what to do, or how to do the many repair jobs that are needed to be done; or Sarah had to go and chase the programmer who's working on the 'program' for her thesis or to attend her graduation rehearsal, or when Norman had to take off and take care of his wife and their newborn cutee, and me writing blog entries and checking out people's sites, or chatting with D, or J, or R who were in AGS, or stealing into my room to get some sleep. BUT the most welcome break of all was the LUNCH BREAK, when we get to taste AJ's gourmet. :) My favorites are the "potato salad, the mac and cheese w/ ham, fruit mix with almond extract (sorry, don't know what's it called:), chilli, and BBQ, etc.
WE'RE DONE! If I could borrow the Lord's words, I'd say, "WELL DONE, TEAM!" (hehehe)
We were able to go through the checking without much trouble. I would also like to commend my teammates Norman and Sarah for doing a good job on all the books that they have worked on. A huge huge thanks also to UB and AJ for always coming back to check our translation. For those of you who do not know, our translation, no matter how "near-perfect" we think it is, can never be published unless a translation consultant puts a seal on it, and seeing our work published and read and used by our people is more than enough to give us the push to go on and strive to finish what we have started. We can draft and draft but without consultant checking, it stays like that... a mere draft.
A big thanks also to all of you who have been with us through prayers.
For this next translation year, our next team project will be to get a good start on the Psalms. I will work on the first 50 chapters, Sarah - the middle 50, and Norman - the last 50. Guessed how we divided it? We drew lots.
Aside from that, we assigned one prophetic book to each one. For me, I will need to finish Isaiah which I have started two years ago and yet seemed to have always been shoved to the back burner, but for this year, if I stay home, my goal is to finish Isaiah and get some of my portion of Psalms drafted too. We'll see.
So my dear partners in crime, if/when you remember us, please be praying fo us, that we will continue to rely on God for wisdom and encouragement as we take on this next big books; that we will continue to love the Words of the Lord so much so that we will desire to understand it and in that understanding, to desire to make it understandable to our people also.
Pray also for:
1. our (B & M) trip to visit B's folks in Mindanao in early May. Pray for safety, health, and enough resources to be able to make the trip.
2. our next training plans; that we would follow God's leading in taking the next step to our training.
3. Sarah as she plans to go back to seminary this school year.
4. Norman (and his family-Hilda & Daniel Jude) as he continues to balance his time between translation and being a new husband and a new dad.
5. the Arsenios (B & E) as they start (in two days) their life together, a smooth adjustment to married life; and also that the Lord will reveal to them what ministry He would like them to get involved in.
6. my brother who is running for a public office this coming May 14 election. May God continue to use him in the local church and may he continue to live a life that honors God even if he makes it to the government seat-- that may he continue to let the Lord Jesus be the master in everything that he plans to do.
7. the Kalanguya churches esp. Nansiakan church: unity, forgiveness, humility, revival...
