A BAD NEWS

A panic was felt among the Kayapanons when they heard a news that their mayor is in jail fro graft and corruption. I sent a message to someone close to the mayor to ask if the news is true. The person I asked directed me to search the internet to read the article about it. You can read it here and here.

First of all, Mayor Tony Dupiano of Kayapa is not in jail.

Ok, let's face it, the mayor committed a naive mistake by using materials bought for one project for another project but it doesn't mean na ibinulsa niya ang pera. Ako na isang mamayan ng Kayapa ang higit na nakakaalam kung ano ang kaledad ng pagkatao at panunungkulan ng aming butihing mayor.

Sa isang programa sa lokal na radyo (DWRV, Bayombong), inamin niya na ang pangyayaring iyan ay bunga ng sitwasyon na nangangailangan ng mabilisang aksiyon. Sa kagustuhan niyang makatulong agad sa mga humihingi ng tulong na sinalanta ng bagyo, ipinakuha niya ang kung ano ang available na materyales at ginamit sa mas nangangailangang proyekto kesa naman tumigas ang mga semento at kalawangin ang mga bakal dahil nga hindi puwedeng gamitin doon sa orihinal na proyekto dahil kailangan ng mas malaking pagpapapalano dala ng malaking pinsala ng bagyo. Sinabi rin ni Mayor Dupiano at naniniwala ako, na hindi niya intensiyon na hindi ipaalam sa mga miyembro ng Sangguniang Bayan ang paglilipat na iyon. Tanungin mo ang mga Sangguniang Bayan at malalaman mo na sila ay sumusuporta kay Mayor Tony. Sa totoo lang, most of the mistakes (na pinalalaki ng kung sinuman ang naghain ng kasong ito) are committed on paper (documentation of projects) na sa totoo lang naman ay gawa ng mga subordinates.


You'd tell me that 'ignorance of the law does not make an unlawful act lawful.' But instances such as that of Dupiano's is not the same as taking a life. The mistake can even be made right in an honest to goodness manner and the Mayor has admitted to the mistake. Kaya sa totoo lang, you cannot even call it graft and corruption dahil alam ko na malinis ang konsensiya ng aming mayor at alam ng mga tao sa Kayapa yan.

Para sa sinasabi ninyong patas na pamamahayag, dapat ay kinuha rin ninyo ang saloobin ng aming alkalde! Because if you dig deeper, all these accusations are being spewed out by political opponents who have 'implemented' a multitude of projects that are 'invisible.'

IF YOU WANT THE TRUTH, COME AND INTERVIEW THE REAL PEOPLE OF KAYAPA, NUEVA VIZCAYA.

FOR EVERYONE'S INFO, MAYOR TONY DUPIANO HAS BEEN ELECTED AND REELECTED FOR THREE TERMS. AND THERE IS NO KADAYAAN THERE! WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE OF KAYAPA JUST KEEP ON SENDING HIM TO THE MAYORALTY CHAIR? BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IN HIS HONESTY AND LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE! WE, THE PEOPLE OF KAYAPA WOULD RATHER HAVE A 'LAW-IGNORANT' AND 'NAIVE' OR WET IN THE EARS BUT HONEST AND DEDICATED MAYOR THAN A LAW-EXPERT WHO WOULD KNOW HOW TO TWEAK THE LAW PARA UMAYON SA KANIYA ANG BATAS.

TO THE PEOPLE OF KAYAPA , MAYOR TONY DUPIANO IS IN HIS HUMBLE HOME IN MAPAYAO, AT HINDI NAKAKULONG NA KATULAD NG SINASABI SA ISANG ARTIKULONG DITO.

NUEVA VIZCAYA, you will do good to elect him to be one of our Northern Board Members comes May elections.

And to the Journal Online and Inquirer, thank you for the publicity. Ika nga sa Showbiz, negative publicity is still a publicity. :)

To Mayor Tony, we are behind you all the way cuz we know your heart!

(I know this is just a rant from a supporter (even a fan) but later when I get more info, I will put a more analytical and detailed entry re the case.)

Right on! I've also heard this issue last week and I was surprised coz the Mayor of Kayapa is still roaming around the province and in his town doing his responsibility as a mayor. He is still the mayor of Kayapa. I don't know why there are many articles being published that are not accurate. Is it because the person they are writing about is just a mayor of an unknown town? Why don't the people go and see what has been done in the municipality of Kayapa and compare it with what the previous mayor or officials did. I am writing not because I hate the previous officials. I just want justice for Mayor Tony Dupiano because I have seen what he has done. I also want to encourage those who wrote the issue about the mayor of Kayapa to dig deeper and you'll see the truth. I believe that if you'll hear mayor Tony's reasons, and see for yourselves the damaged bridge which is supposedly the original project, you will surely say that what he did is right although he didn't follow the correct procedure thinking that what is important is that the remaining materials that is still useful, be used in another project; as he had accepted on air via DWRV last week.

Mukhang galit na galit tayo ah. It doesn't look like graft nga, as you said parang kamali lang in going through the procedures. I hope you saved a copy of the journal article (pabasa in case you did) because the link is not working, mukhang inalis.

ay naku!!! tao nga naman.. i do agree with the decision of the the sandigan bayan for it is really true that mayor dupiano is a corrupt official. may i just direct those people defendinghim to see the records of the bac regarding then different projects which were implemented during his incumbency. may minidumptruck ba na worth P800,000.oo na second hand? may backhoe ba na worth P1,500,000.00 na surplus at wala pang breaker? tama lang kaya na magpagawa ng boundary markers na worth 250,000.00 bawat isa na kung iyong oobserbahan ay parang worth 30000.00 lang ang bawat isa? tama lang kaya na bawat repair ng mga equipments ay negotiated contracts lahat na walang bidding? nako po! mag isip isip kayong taga kayapa!!! i challenged you for a debate regarding those matters.

ADDICTIONS

My addictions are weird but I think these are not unique to me.  I have three addictions and I am very glad that I have overcome one of them, at least for now.   #SUGAR_ADDICT  Over a month ago, I was probably one of the worst sugar/carb addict there is.  Since I was diagnosed with diabetes almost three decades ago, I went into a rollercoaster of dieting and fasting and binge eating.  I would weigh myself, get disgusted with what I see and resolve to eat nothing for a week. I would lose 10kg, then the following week, I would eat all the calories that I restricted myself from and more.  Then in April of last year I tried the ketogenic diet and it was working for a month or so until an aunt commented that I will get all wrinkly and saggy if I lose too much weight and my mind used that statement as an excuse to go back to my standard way of eating which has always left me feeling and looking bloated, inflamed, fat, and ugly.  It also aggravated all my health issues specially w
