DISCORDANT NOTES

Not too many days ago, I started checking out friend's blog pages again after a long reprieve considering how net surfing for me is given more precedence than breakfast. In doing so, it necessitates that I go into my own page beforehand for the obvious reason that all the links are there. Then I noticed how old, bored, and pitiful my last entry was; like a vagabond in someone else's family reunion--so out of place, trying hard, strange and different. I scrolled down and saw that every other title before it were of the same kind: words that were from another person's thoughts, originally typed in by fingers that aren't mine.

For the last two months after my surgery, my life's music has somewhat become a series of discordant melody that no world-class conductor would even attempt to orchestrate into something beautiful . The notes were all garbled up and confused that no Beethoven would try to array them into a playable piece. Yet in spite of the unsymphonic orchestra that my life has become, the beautiful lyrics written by the Almighty remained the same.

Six days ago, I was able to be on my own feet again, literally. There had been no fun in being mostly in bed for two months that went on and on like forever. Wanting to do a lot, and having the mind to do it but not the physical strength to dive into it has driven me crazy one too many times that someone had to restrain me. But now that I'm up and about, all of those were like a part of somebody else's life, not mine. Looking back, I've been blessed with the good sense to recognize that I have needed the weakness and disability of the body to give rest to my soul and spirit... so that my life's scent might exude a thicker, more concentrated aroma of fragrance; to realize that no matter how tough and multifariously complex life could become in the midst of illness, God’s hand is still there orchestrating all the instruments that would play a part in this symphony, so that this life and the ministry He has blessed me with might turn into a progressive, more purposeful, well-designed and efficient channel of service.

Dear Gandang Igorota:

Greetings and Good health to you!

I am an instructor of Speech Communication at the University of the Philippines Baguio and a student of MA Speech Communication in the University of the Philippines Diliman. I am currently doing my thesis entitled “The Igorot in the World Wide Web: Exploring the Igorot Ethnic Identity through the Communicative Act of Blogging” which aims to explore blogs as a medium that enables Igorot bloggers to communicate their ethnic identity.

It is in this regard that I would like to request you to be a respondent for my study through a videotaped interview and as a participant in a Focused Group Discussion (FGD). I would like to discuss relevant information related to your blogs that will serve as pertinent data for my study. Your opinions will greatly help in answering the study’s research questions.

I am willing to schedule a videotaped interview at your convenience anytime from April 1-10, 2008.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at 0906-580-6669 or steph_rabia@yahoo.com to confirm your interview schedule or for further inquiries.

I look forward to your involvement in this scholastic activity.

Thank you very much!

Respectfully yours,

Stephanie Luanne San Agustin Rabia

Hi Stephanie, Thanks for the invitation, but I definitely don't have time on those dates. My boss and I are covered up to our ears with work so we're working triple time (as in +Saturdays).:) Even so, I know there are so many Igorots in the net. Your paper sounds interesting, btw...

Hello sis K, You've been in my thoughts lately, musta ka na jan? How's your 'health' na? I prayerfully hope for complete 'healing'para sa'yo. Blessings and Ingat ka lagi!

Hi,
Try this one. Let's see if it works.
1. Go to your dashboard
2. Click "Layout"
3. Click "Page Elements" if you're not there already.
4. Find the box that says "Header", then you'll see a link in blue that says "Edit".
5. Click the "Edit Header". May magpa-pop up where you can configure the header.
6. There's a choice for you where you can place the image which are:
>> a) Behind title and description
>> b) Instead of title and description

7. Check yung letter a.

8. Save.

Hope it works.

Usually, Blogger/Blogspot has problems at hindi mo makikita yung #4 above. Usually, this happens to me in the afternoons. So try it in another part of the day, siguro umaga or gabi if #4 above doesn't show up.

By the way, did you intend your links to be at the top? Or automatic na pumunta doon yung links na iyon? Because you can change that by editing the linkbar. Steps are similar to the one you do to edit the header image.

1. Go to your dashboard
2. Click "Layout"
3. Click "Page Elements" if you're not there already.
4. Find the box that says "Link Bar", then you'll see a link in blue that says "Edit".
5. Click the "Edit Link Bar". May magpa-pop up where you can edit the link bar.
6. Tapos palitan mo na lang yung links to your major blog categories or your other sites. Pero siguro masaya kami ni Layad pag nasa taas ang link na pupunta sa aming blog hehe.
7. Save.

Hope it works. If not, I'll look at the template you used tomorrow.

Cheers :-)

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the Procedures.. but I've been doing that to the header for the last two weeks, :) ayaw pa rin. ;-(

As for the Linkbars, yes this template does it this way and it looks so cluttered kung idisplay lahat ng links so I chose these particular ones lang but I have been planning to put all the others sa sidebar kaya lang I have yet to find time to do it. I'll probably just change the template na lang pag may oras na...
