Night is Over
NIGHT IS OVER

There was once a rickety spider
Half of her life she lived in a cocoon
But then she had to come out because
She’s now old enough to build a net of her own
So she ventured out to try her silvery thread
But every morning the dew would ruin her web
And so again, frustrated and lonely
She has to retreat and roll herself on a leaf
“What on earth did I do to deserve such ill-fate?”
She asked herself a hundred times and one.
One day she awakened with a start
There in her web is a young butterfly
It was helpless
Its wings were broken, trying to disentangle itself
The delicate web broke
The spider saw the hopeless fate of the butterfly
Without a second thought, the spider cut her loose
But in doing so, the spider had to suffer watching the fly fall
With only a trace of hope that she’ll find the strength to fly again.
Life for the spider went on, she began by mending her broken web
It was a mess but she knew deep in her heart she could do it
Cuz when the night is over, the sun will smile in the morning
And the dew in her web will dry up and be gone.
But then she wondered, what has become of the butterfly?
Did the wings heal, did she find the will to soar again
Is she now strong enough to venture to new heights?
With everyday that passes by
In the spider’s heart is a prayer
That wherever the butterfly would flutter to
Be it on a flowery little bush or a high tree top
She would look back and see
That the web was never meant to be a trap
But a little wall for this scared, insecure spider.
Now, the spider has totally mended her web
She released all that has been trapped there
All that was left is a dewy, silvery hue
Never will it be trampled; never will it be messed up
Cuz it was built to last for eternity.
(Whatever that means...) lol
